Volunteer School Librarian
Edith ‘Ms. Dee’ Friend

Hi, my name is Dee, and I am the school’s volunteer librarian. I have the wonderful opportunity to share my love for children and reading in this remarkable school and library. I have been a life long reader and Mother to four children, and a Grandmother and Great-grandmother. As a participating co-op preschool parent in a Montessori preschool, I learned many of their “Preparation for Reading” techniques that are still relevant today. More recently, I was a volunteer “Reading Pal” in the Ocala, Florida school system. This program is designed to help “at risk” children entering Kindergarten unprepared. We were there to simply introduce them to the wonder of books and  share our love for reading. This is the first step for them to “Learn to read, so they can read to learn”.
